18 January 2019: Inmarsat is sponsoring the 2019 Nautilus International Life at Sea photo competition, which aims to highlight the reality of modern-day seafaring to the wider world.
Open to all members of Nautilus International, the global maritime trade union and professional association, the competition is looking for still images and videos that capture the highs and the lows of life at sea.
Inmarsat is providing cash prizes of £1,250 for the winning entry, £750 for second prize and £500 for the third-placed entry. The closing date is 5 August 2019, and the prizes will be presented at the Nautilus International General Meeting in Rotterdam in October, alongside an exhibition of the best entries.
Peter Broadhurst, Senior Vice President, Safety and Security for Inmarsat Maritime said: “Every day some 1.6 million seafarers depend on Inmarsat for a communications lifeline. We know how tough, and how exhilarating, the seafaring life can be – and, thanks to satellite connectivity, it has never been easier to share that with friends and family back home.
“We are delighted to sponsor the Nautilus International photo competition so even more people can have a taste of the modern seafaring experience.”
