Inmarsat wins the Aviation Achievement Awards’ ‘Satellite Operator Excellence’ category for a third consecutive year. The judges praised Inmarsat for providing the highest level of performance, coverage and certainty through its commercial and business aviation connectivity services, supported by a fully-funded technology roadmap to meet customers’ evolving needs into the 2030s and beyond.

Inmarsat Government’s GX LITE wins the Mobile Satellite User Association’s (MSUA) 2023 Satellite Mobile Innovation Awards. The land user terminal for tactical military and non-military users worldwide, powered by our Global Xpress network, won the Government Mobile Innovation category, marking the seventh time in eight years that Inmarsat was honoured as a winner of the prestigious, annual award.

OneFi was commended for its variety of inflight services in one modular platform, enhancing passenger experience and driving ancillary revenues for airlines. In providing airline branding, a targeting engine, media players, and ancillary integration, the platform enables a custom passenger experience with a range of inflight services and content features, while simultaneously driving monetisation through targeted content, digital commerce, and advertising and sales lead generation.

Inmarsat, Globalsat Group and Cobham Satcom win two Railway Technology Excellence Awards for their jointly developed real-time data transfer and push-to-talk (PTT) communications for rail operators working in remote areas. In connecting drivers and railway staff wherever they are, the solution drives operational efficiencies and boosts overall railway safety.

Inmarsat Government wins a 2022 MSUA Satellite Mobile Innovation Award for LAISR, in recognition of the company's track record of successful customer-centric innocavation. The LAISR capability was developed in response to U.S. government requirements for cost-effective high-speed BLOS connectivity for small-aperture aero platforms.

Inmarsat receives top honours at the AUVSI XCELLENCE Awards 2022, after being named recipient of the ‘Technology Hall of Fame’ trophy in recognition of Inmarsat’s global satellite network, ELERA, for enabling next-generation technologies that will serve as a catalyst for rapid growth in the commercial Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle (UAV) industry.

June 2010: Royal Academy of Engineering MacRobert Award

The groundbreaking BGAN service won Inmarsat the UK's top prize for engineering innovation. The judging panel praised the company for having the vision to see the demand for a global broadband service, the courage to invest significant time and money in developing it, and the ability to overcome formidable engineering challenges to reach their objective.

May 2011: Innovator of the Year

The Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise presented Inmarsat Maritime (formerly Ship Equip) with an award from its More and Romsdal Region. The accolade was reward for taking the initiative, showing persistence and promoting innovation.

June 2011: Al-Iktissad Wal-Aamal Achievement Award

An award recognising Inmarsat's exceptional contribution to the development of satellite services in the Middle East was presented at the 10th Arab Telecommunications and Internet Forum in Beirut, Lebanon.

September 2011: Global Satellite Operator of the Year

A panel of industry experts at World Satellite Business Week 2011 in Paris presented Inmarsat with the highest accolade in the satellite sector.

December 2011: CommsMEA 2011 'Most Innovative Non-Voice Service'

BGAN was recognised for its outstanding contribution to the telecoms sector in the Middle East and Africa at an awards ceremony in Dubai. The award highlighted BGAN's broadband data capabilities following an assessment by a panel of industry experts.

February 2012: Satellite Services Provider of the Year

The Digital Studio Industry Leadership Awards in Dubai honoured Inmarsat with its major award for the second year running at its eighth annual event attended by professionals from the media, TV and film production industries.

June 2012: Safety at Sea Systems Award

Inmarsat's Voice Distress (Non-SOLAS) service won Safety at Sea magazine's Systems Award for helping mariners in difficulties. The FleetBroadband service was launched in 2011 to enhance safety communication on commercial and leisure vessels.

October 2012: ITU Humanitarian Award for Lifesaving

The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) presented Inmarsat with the first Humanitarian Award for Lifesaving – recognising its commitment and consistent leadership in supporting the use of telecommunications to save lives during emergencies.

February 2013: Best Telecoms PLC in the UK Stock Market Awards

The UK Stock Market Awards recognise publicly quoted companies that are 'truly creating shareholder value'. They are judged by a 10-strong panel of City of London investment firms and personal advisors who look for excellence in financial performance, strategic and operational development, and robust shareholder return.

March 2013: Innovation award for improving space safety

Inmarsat's role in making operations in space safer and more reliable was recognised with an industry innovator award from the Society of Satellite Professionals International. The society presented the Space Data Association (SDA) with its Innovation in Industry Collaboration on the Safe Use of Space award. SDA was founded by Inmarsat, Intelsat and SES in 2009 to address the increased crowding of the Earth's orbit and the lack of industry-wide data on satellite positioning.

November 2013: CSR recognition award for humanitarian support

Télécoms Sans Frontières (TSF), the world-leading emergency telecommunications organisation, acknowledged Inmarsat’s continued support at the 2013 Global Carrier Awards with a Corporate Social Responsibility Special Recognition award. Inmarsat sponsors TSF’s vital work through the provision of free BGAN terminals, IsatPhone Pro satellite phones and airtime to enable first responders at the scene of an international disaster or emergency to offer crucial support and help save lives.

January 2014: Prestigious IVCA award for corporate communications

Inmarsat was honoured by the International Visual Communications Association (IVCA) with a Bronze title in the Best International Film category at the IVCA Awards 2013 for its Timeline video, which powerfully charts the company’s landmark achievements throughout its 34-year history against a backdrop of global news stories and events. The awards are renowned internationally as a mark of excellence for corporate and public sector communications in video, interactive projects, business television and digital media.

February 2015: AFCEA WEST Women's Appreciation Award

Rebecca Cowen-Hirsch, Inmarsat Senior Vice President, U.S. Government, received the Women’s Appreciation Award by the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) WEST. The AFCEA Northern Virginia (NOVA) chapter nominated Rebecca for this award specifically for her work leading the Women in NOVA (WIN) programme over the past three years, expanding their participation and creating new opportunities for women in the Chapter – the largest of AFCEA International, with approximately 7,000 members in industry, government and academia.

April 2015: Women in Technology Award for top U.S. Government SVP

Rebecca Cowen-Hirsch, Inmarsat Senior Vice President, U.S. Government, received a prestigious Women in Technology (WIT) Award at the 16th Annual Leadership Awards. The awards honour outstanding women who work in the Greater Washington, D.C. region and have exemplified unique vision, leadership and great success in the technology industry. Rebecca won the Corporate Public Sector category for her unstinting work helping to mentor and develop the careers of women in her profession, and for pioneering change in the technology community.

December 2015: Winner of SSPI Better Satellite World Awards.

Inmarsat was the winner of the first annual Better Satellite World Awards, organised by the Society of Satellite Professionals International (SSPI). It was one of only four organisations to receive an award in celebration of the enormous contributions of satellite technology to human welfare, the economy, safety, security, and the extension of knowledge. The award recognises Inmarsat’s role in providing critical satellite communications across land, at sea and in the air.
