Long Range Wide Area Networks (LoRaWAN) are a type of low power wide area network (LPWAN) that offer significant advantages in connecting multiple data producers, using low power, over distances of up to 10km. However, in remote areas without connectivity, they can only function as a local network, meaning the power of IoT is restricted to only those people who can access the network locally. 

Inmarsat’s LoRaWAN service changes all of this and allows you to connect Internet of Things (IoT) endpoints at low cost and low power consumption, ensuring that data can be optimised for transmission and backhauled over Inmarsat’s BGAN M2M or IDP satellite connectivity services. In deploying our optimised LoRaWAN technology in conjunction with our core connectivity services, we ensure that data from IoT endpoints can be transmitted and received, no matter where they are. 

Service plans

We offer a variety of connectivity plans ranging from very low message usage (max 1 a day) up to a report a minute (up to 1440 a day) to ensure you are able to get the data you want, when you need it. For most industrial IoT applications a report every 15 minutes or so is the recommended plan.
