The EBACE connectivity roundup

null

Business Aviation’s leading players met at EBACE in Geneva to explore industry innovations, and unsurprisingly, connectivity was key.

This week saw EBACE Europe’s largest event showcasing business aviation products and services take place in Geneva.

This is our roundup of what happened in the world of inflight connectivity at the event in 2018.

In the run up to the event Cobham made an exciting announcement about their communications upgrade option for business jets. Using Inmarsat’s SB-S technology platform, business jets operators will now be able to fly preferred FANS routes.

Day one

Yves Rossi, aka ‘JetMan’ cut the ribbon for EBACE.

Yves, has a history as an accomplished military and commercial pilot but is on a quest to ‘fly like a bird’. Here’s a video of him doing just that:

The event’s static display for aircraft is always impressive.

Inmarsat was present in force, excited to be part of this important event.

Gulfstream presented its G500 jet and introduced the G600 jet, both complete with IFEC powered by Inmarsat’s Jet ConneX.

Inmarsat announced, that we were going to be rolling out the European Aviation Network (EAN) for business aviation in 2019. Reaction was instant:

More news flowed in from our partner, Rockwell Collins who announced its first installation of IFEC in African region, powered by Jet ConneX -

Here’s a video to recap what the first day looked like:

Day two

Day two kicked off with the Inmarsat team announcing that we had had hit the impressive milestone of 275 installations, after just 18 months in commercial service.

In this video Michael Rack, SVP Inmarsat shows why Jet Connex is making happy customers.

Our partners, Honeywell Aero also discussed their impressive GoDirect Connected Maintenance service which alerts ground crews 3 days before maintenance is required.

There was lots of activity and excitement all round, as our partner EAD Aerospace noted.

Day three

EBACE concluded their “strong and forward looking show” for 2018.

And then it was all over again for another year. Once again, we found EBACE to be fantastic event and as one journalist pointed out, it wasn’t all hard work – we enjoyed some good times too.
