Inmarsat to power connectivity for Avcon Jet fleet

Inmarsat Partner Satcom Direct (SD) has been selected as the preferred connectivity supplier for Avcon Jet and will supply a range of tools powered by Inmarsat’s Jet ConneX (JX) and SwiftBroadband (SBB) solutions for its fleet of over 70 aircraft.

Avcon Jet, headquartered in Austria, manages its mixed aircraft fleet from offices in 12 major international business aviation hubs and needed seamless, reliable and global connectivity solutions to meet its requirements.

SD will work alongside Inmarsat to provide Avcon Jet with a range of software, hardware and infrastructure services through its SD Xperience portfolio, including passenger inflight Wi-Fi, flight deck communications and cybersecurity solutions.

Real-time assistance

A global support team will be available on a 24/7 basis to provide real-time assistance and troubleshooting in various languages. In addition, the agreement includes an integrated, customised hardware upgrade roadmap, ensuring that each of Avcon Jet’s aircraft is equipped with the appropriate connectivity tools.

“As one of Europe’s major business aviation companies, it is imperative that our provider can supply all our aircraft with the right connectivity services, seamlessly and securely,” explains Maximillian Maruna, Chief Operating Officer for Avcon Jet.

“Technology moves so rapidly, so we also needed immediate access to necessary support and assistance for those services. The additional focus on cybersecurity and ability to customise services made SD the obvious choice for our needs.”

Powerful combination

Kai Tang, Inmarsat’s Senior Vice President of Business and General Aviation, congratulated Satcom Direct on this latest contract, which reinforces their successful track record of offering Inmarsat connectivity in the business aviation market for over 20 years.

“The powerful combination of Satcom Direct’s advanced software, hardware and infrastructure services with our world-class global satellite networks will provide a superior connectivity experience for Avcon Jet,” he reveals. “We look forward to working together on rolling these services out to the Avcon Jet fleet, which includes a combination of Boeing, Bombardier, Cessna, Dassault, Embraer and Gulfstream aircraft.”

According to Michael Skou Christensen, SD’s VP International, it was the resiliency of the product offerings, combined with the rapid response times and global footprint of technical experts, that truly positioned them as the preferred provider.

“As the exclusive connectivity services supplier to Avcon Jet, we can better serve their needs, whether it be providing hardware and software connectivity packages, upgrading cabin systems, enhancing cybersecurity, or simply providing assistance through our customer support team,” he states.
