Satcom Direct achieves Jet ConneX milestone over I-5 F2

Satcom Direct has become the first Inmarsat business aviation distribution partner to provision its services and transmit data over the Global Xpress network via the Inmarsat-5 F2 satellite (I-5 F2).

The significant milestone follows on from Satcom Direct becoming the first Inmarsat partner to also validate its services over Inmarsat-5 F1 (I-5 F1) in August.

Jet ConneX, the business aviation high-speed Ka-band broadband service operating over the Global Xpress (GX) constellation, will deliver a new standard in satellite broadband services when deployed globally.

Unmatched performance

The service will support high data rate applications in-flight, including streaming YouTube videos and Skype video calls in real time.

Satcom Direct proprietary solutions have been designed to enhance the Ka-band technology and optimise the Jet ConneX service to deliver unmatched performance in the air.

The company’s exclusive services allow operators to manage and maximise bandwidth, improve voice call quality, prioritise passenger data and more.

Important milestone

Tiered pricing plans allow operators to choose from various data speeds, to enable them to get the connectivity that’s right for them and Jet ConneX offers guaranteed minimum data rates for each pricing tier.

“Inmarsat congratulates our partner Satcom Direct on achieving this important milestone. Jet ConneX is a game changer for the business aviation industry, allowing passengers to access high-speed in-flight connectivity with worldwide coverage that is consistent, reliable and unmatched,” said Kurt Weidemeyer, Inmarsat Vice President of Business Aviation.

“Aircraft operators want and need the fastest possible data speeds in the air. Satcom Direct is out in front in proving that our services are ready for the next generation networks as soon as they are available to customers,” said Jim Jensen, Satcom Direct founder and CEO.

Satcom Direct is also an authorised Global Xpress Value Added Reseller for U.S. government aviation and enterprise markets.
