Cast your vote for Inmarsat Fleet Safety in Safety4Sea Awards

Inmarsat is thrilled to announce that its new Fleet Safety service has been shortlisted for a prestigious 2018 Safety4Sea Award. Voted for by the public, the awards aim to foster safety excellence and sustainable shipping.

Nominated within the Technology category, the award recognises organisations that have provided a significant technological achievement or breakthrough or a significant contribution to maritime safety.

Fleet Safety, our next-generation safety at sea service, was formally recognised as a new service to support the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) by the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Maritime Safety Committee in May 2018.

SAR coordination

Delivered over our FleetBroadband and Fleet One services, new Fleet Safety offers a free 505 calling service for vessels, In addition, it incorporates SafetyNET II, an interactive web-based platform to enable Maritime Safety Information messages to be simultaneously sent over multiple systems, and RescueNET, specifically designed for Maritime Rescue Coordination Centres (MRCCs) to bring all their functions onto one platform to enable easier coordination of Search and Rescue operations.

Public voting

The winners of the Safety4Sea Awards are decided by the public. Online voting is now open and you can nominate Inmarsat Fleet Safety for the Technology Award by casting your vote here by 7 September.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Athens, Greece on 2 October.
