Mexican Navy’s ambassador vessel upgrades to Fleet Xpress

A Mexican Navy sail training vessel which travels the world to promote the country and its maritime legacy is looking to the future with an upgrade to Fleet Xpress.

ARM Cuauhtémoc took advantage of an official visit to London’s historic East India wharf to be fitted with Inmarsat’s new-generation communication system, upgrading from FleetBroadband.

Fleet Xpress delivers the high data speeds enabled by Inmarsat’s Global Xpress Ka-band technology combined with the proven reliability of the FleetBroadband L-band service.

The square rigger is a sailing ambassador for her home country and a frequent visitor to world ports, having sailed over 400,000 nautical miles (700,000 km) in her 23 years of service.

The vessel is on active duty all year round and the 250 crew members and cadets can be away from home for anything up to nine months. For the young crew, staying in touch with loved ones back in Mexico is vitally important.
