Inmarsat manufacturing partner Intellian Technologies has designed three new marine antennas to support FleetBroadband.
The new Intellian product line covers all three FleetBroadband services – FB150, FB250 and FB500.
Each of the antennas comes with a broad range of IP and network-related value-added features including:
The Intellian FB250 and FB500 feature built-in Wi-Fi to enable interaction with the web-based control interface and allow wireless push-to-talk services for smartphones using free, downloadable apps.
“We've always developed strategic relationships with high-quality manufacturers in order to deliver the most effective connectivity solutions,” said Frank Coles, President of Inmarsat Maritime.
“Intellian's new range of FleetBroadband terminals for the maritime market is yet a further example of this partnership approach in action.
“Since July 2011, we have worked with Intellian to produce the Ka-band Global Xpress antenna and a Ku-to-GX antenna in preparation for the launch of Global Xpress.”
Eric Sung, President and Chief Executive Officer at Intellian, said: “We are delighted to extend our strategic partnership with Inmarsat and to offer the maritime industry a range of reliable terminals for the industry-leading FleetBroadband service with a host of innovative features.
“With our global service infrastructure and continued investment in research and development, we are ideally positioned to provide a one-stop shop for shipboard communications hardware.”
All three new FleetBroadband antennas complement Intellian's hardware for Global Xpress (GX), the world's first globally available Ka-band service, which will support broadband connections at speeds comparable with terrestrial networks from its scheduled launch in 2014.
They are also capable of supporting Inmarsat's XpressLink service, the world's only fully-integrated Ku-band and L-band solution with VSAT and FleetBroadband terminals.
XpressLink offers the maritime industry high-speed broadband for a fixed monthly fee, together with a free migration path to GX, when this becomes available.
