29 September 2014: Inmarsat has selected Intellian, a global provider of stabilised satellite antenna systems, to deliver XpressLink high-speed broadband services across its FB500 antenna.
XpressLink is the world’s leading, fully-integrated Ku-band and L-band solution used with VSAT and FleetBroadband terminals, and is popular with ship owners as it provides unlimited data for a fixed monthly fee and delivers a fully-redundant and resilient service.
XpressLink also offers an easy upgrade path to Inmarsat’s Global Xpress.
The FB500 antenna has already demonstrated its effectiveness in supporting XpressLink services after being deployed on vessels belonging to a number of Inmarsat’s commercial maritime customers.
Previously approved to deliver XpressLink services over its V100GX VSAT antennas two years ago, the addition of FB500 within the XpressLink terminal strengthens Intellian’s position as an important partner supporting Inmarsat’s future Maritime portfolio..
“Intellian is an innovative and reliable manufacturing partner for Inmarsat and their technology is featured across all three of our major maritime platforms with antennas type-approved for Ka, Ku and L-band services.
“As we continue to innovate our services, it’s imperative that our partners are able to help us realise our vision of the future of maritime communications,” said Frank Coles, Inmarsat Maritime President.
Eric Sung, CEO, Intellian, said: “We are proud to continue to develop our relationship with Inmarsat and to extend the number of antennas deployed across their service portfolio. Delivering reliable and robust services is our priority. The future of Inmarsat’s portfolio is exciting and we are looking forward to working with them on new innovations in the future.”
Intellian has been an Inmarsat partner since 2011 and provides services primarily to the maritime sector, as well as to luxury yachting, offshore energy, and defence and intelligence.
