19 September 2017: Inmarsat has received an accolade for its services and commitment to maritime cyber security at the IMC Golden Shield Excellence Awards 2017 – UK Chapter.
The Maritime Security Services Provider Award was presented to Inmarsat at a ceremony in London on 15 September.
The International Maritime Club (IMC) Awards honour organisations and individuals that have demonstrated a commitment to advancing and improving the marine insurance industry.
The award comes just days after Inmarsat launched its new maritime cyber security service, Fleet Secure, during London International Shipping Week.
Fleet Secure is the maritime industry’s first and only fully-managed service to detect vulnerabilities, respond to threats and protect ships from widespread cyberattack.
Available as a standard option on award-winning Fleet Xpress, it will power cyber resilience at sea, offering vessel owners and managers continuous transparency on the status of their digital security and a 24/7 response to cybercrime.
In May 2017, Inmarsat also gave its full backing to a new Joint Working Group (JWG) formed by the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) to develop standardised industry practices to oppose maritime cyber threats.
