Inmarsat and Telespazio to jointly develop energy services

Inmarsat and Telespazio are teaming up to develop joint mobile satellite services for energy and machine to machine (M2M) customers in Europe.

Both companies will look to collaborate on specific projects to enhance their services and product offerings for the energy sector, particularly in the high growth area of M2M and remote applications.

Inmarsat and Telespazio are exhibiting together at Offshore Europe in Aberdeen, Scotland, until 6 September.

Lower cost
They are presenting solutions utilising BGAN, BGAN Link and BGAN M2M that can be used throughout the various phases of the oil and gas project lifecycle.

The services help improve operational efficiency and bring fields on-stream quicker and at a lower cost.

Inmarsat is also showing its next-generation, high-speed, mobile broadband satellite service, Global Xpress, which is planned to be globally available from 2015.

“This is an opportunity to further improve the successful long-term relationship between the two companies in the satcom market, representing as well a unique guarantee for energy sector customers for reliable, up to date and high-quality solutions provisioning,” said Telespazio Senior Vice President Marco Brancati.
