04 December 2013: Inmarsat has appointed Globecomm as a Value Added Reseller (VAR) for Global Xpress (GX) serving the government market in Africa and the Middle East.
Globecomm is a specialised provider of managed satellite services, designing, installing and supporting communications solutions for government and military users in extreme and demanding situations.
The new signing builds on Globecomm’s seven-year relationship with Inmarsat as a partner.
Andy Start, President, Inmarsat Government said: “We are all very pleased to welcome Globecomm as one of the first GX VARs in the government sector and look forward to working closely with them as GX goes live in 2014.
“Globecomm’s established footprint across many African countries places it ideally to drive early growth of GX services in these exciting and emerging economies.”
Keith Hall, CEO of Globecomm adds: “Having GX in our portfolio is a central part of our global government sales strategy. We look forward to working with Inmarsat to grow our respective revenue in the months and years to come.”
GX will be the first global Ka-band broadband satellite network to provide high bandwidth services to the land, maritime and aero markets.
By integrating seamlessly with Inmarsat’s L-band network, it will ensure reliable communications for mission critical operations and in challenging environments.
The first GX satellite, Inmarsat-5 F1, is scheduled to launch on 8 December 2013 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
