Inmarsat is proud to be participating in the Smart Maritime Network Conference to be held in Copenhagen on 6 October. The event will focus us on how digital innovation is going to provide a clearer pathway to achieving the ambitious goals set out in the Paris Agreement and the European Commission’s “Fit for 55” blueprint.
The forum aims to provide a platform upon which to review and discuss ideas and solutions impacting the future of shipping. Inmarsat will very much be part of these discussions and will be involved in three key sessions:
The first session is at 11:20 CEST when Stefano Poli, Inmarsat’s VP of Business Development for Maritime will be speaking on the topic of “Navigating remote service challenges”. He’ll be getting under the skin of the challenges experienced during remote surveys and how connectivity can enable the digitalisation of the maritime industry and unlock the true potential of technology.
The second session at 14.00 CEST will be a round table discussion which will be hosted by Inmarsat’s Director Business Development for Maritime, Alberto Perez. The discussion, entitled “Innovation in times of exception: the digital response of maritime industry to the pandemic”, will look at how the shipping industry reacted to the challenges the pandemic presented, delving into the resulting acceleration of adoption of new technologies and the innovation sparked. Other topics to be addressed will include crew welfare, digitalisation, remote workplace and connectivity.
Inmarsat’s final session will be at 15:55 CEST and will see Inmarsat’s Alberto Perez will once again join a panel to discuss “The Role of Leaders and Policy Makers in Digitising Global Trade”. The panel will focus on how a coherent and comprehensive approach can be built for the industry’s digital transformation, leveraging return on investment and highlighting the importance of maintaining purpose in strategy.
Other panel members include Peter Sand, Chief Shipping Analyst at BIMCO, Loris Francesco di Maio, Head of Operational Excellence at V.Ships and Juliana Hsuan, Professor, Operations Management and Supply Chain Management for the Copenhagen Business School. It will be moderated by Jon Key, Managing Director of Key and Co Ltd.
