The much-anticipated third edition of the airline’s biggest virtual broadcast event, hosted by Inmarsat and the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX), returns on 19-23 July with a reimagined format.

Globally streamed FlightPlan III: C-Suite Week features five high-level interviews across five days with leading airline CEOs by BBC World News journalist Aaron Heslehurst.

Each day at 13:00-14:00 BST, questions will be asked about what the events of the past 12 months have taught the airline CEOs about their business and the aviation industry as a whole, and what strategies are in place for a post-pandemic bounce back - from regaining passenger confidence and accelerating the industry’s long-term recovery to addressing sustainability challenges and fast-tracking digital transformation.

Each interview will be followed by a panel session, hosted by APEX CEO Dr Joe Leader, with industry experts, analysts and thought leaders to discuss and debate insights shared during the interviews and provide their views on a brighter future for the industry. Panellists include aviation analyst Alex Macheras, aviation journalist John Walton and Inmarsat Aviation President Philip Balaam.

The agenda for the week is as follows:

  • Monday 19 July – Willie Walsh, Director General, IATA (and former CEO of IAG)
  • Tuesday 20 July – Tony Fernandes, CEO and Founder, AirAsia Group
  • Wednesday 21 July – Akbar Al Bakaar, Group CEO, Qatar Airways
  • Thursday 22 July - Christine Ourmières-Widener, CEO TAP Air Portugal
  • Friday 23 July – Scott Kirby, CEO, United Airlines and APEX/IFSA Board of Governors Chair

FlightPlan III follows on from the highly successful first and second editions, FlightPlan: Charting a Course into the Future and FlightPlan: Strategies for Recovery, which attracted over 10,000 viewers. The format was devised in 2020 at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic  to bring the industry together in a time of uncertainty.
