Inmarsat Cares Content Competition 2025: Share Your Story at Sea

Maritime

We know that seafarers help keep the world moving and we understand that it’s vital to keep you connected during their voyages at sea.

When we surveyed seafarers about life at sea, 89% of respondents said the primary purpose of their internet usage while at sea is communication with family and friends and 70% said that internet connectivity has positively impacted their mental well-being during long voyages. 83% of the seafarers that we surveyed also said they are concerned about the security and privacy of their data while using the vessel’s internet.

NexusWave - next level connectivity

NexusWave takes crew connectivity to the next level to meet their needs. Seafarers can enjoy unrestricted internet access, which means they can stay connected with family and friends without worrying about data limits, helping to boost morale and mental well-being, especially during long voyages. The secure connectivity provided by NexusWave also means that crew members' personal data and communications are protected from cyber threats.

Inmarsat Cares Content Competition

As part of our drive to show just how important connectivity is to those who work at sea, we’re launching the Inmarsat Cares Content Competition 2025 with the support of Seafarer Social. We would like to invite seafarers from around the world to share their stories about life onboard a vessel.

Calling all seafarers, we want the world to see how connectivity helps you stay close to the people and things that matter most, whether you’re video calling children from your bunk for a bedtime chat, catching up on your favourite Netflix series after a shift, or using online tools for training and career development. Connectivity is not just a perk, it’s a necessity of life, and that is no different at sea.

Now, it’s your chance to show the world what life is really like offshore, through your lens.

How to Enter

To take part, simply submit a short video or a photo that captures a real moment from your life at sea using connectivity.

Whether it’s a sunrise Facetime chat on deck with family at home, a shared laugh in the crew mess as you watch a streamed football match together, or a snapshot of how you use your onboard internet to manage your life at home.

We want to see your authentic content that’s honest, personal and sends a powerful message about why you need unlimited connectivity.

You can upload your short video or photograph in the form here. If you are unable to access the form or have any questions about the content, you can send an email to competition@seafarersocial.com.

Selected entries will be featured on Inmarsat Maritime’s Instagram and Facebook channels, where they’ll help raise awareness of the everyday realities of life at sea and the critical need for reliable connectivity no matter where you are.

The Dos and Don’ts of Creating Your Entry

We want to hear your story, told in your way but there are a few simple guidelines that content needs to adhere to:

✔ DO:

  • Be authentic – tell your own story in your own voice
  • Wipe your camera lens before filming or snapping
  • Film in portrait mode (i.e. vertical, not landscape)
  • Try to keep your video under a minute long
  • Make sure that you have permission from everyone featured in your video to enter the video into the competition and to be featured on our social media channels
  • Make sure to check out the full Terms & Conditions below before submitting

✖ DON’T:

  • Don’t mention or show logos or signage of any other company or use copyrighted  copyrighted music or imagery that could compromise safety or company policy.
  • Don’t speak negatively about any past or current company limitations on connectivity
  • Don’t put yourself or anyone else at risk to get a video/shot
  • Don’t use Inmarsat logos - this is your content

What’s in It for You?
