Inmarsat and MarineFields collaborate on improving port call process

Inmarsat and digital services developer MarineFields have signed an MOU to partner in investigating how sea traffic management and satellite connectivity can make port calls more efficient.

The joint effort will be focused on providing a marketplace for port call optimisation services resulting in just-in-time operations and shortened turn-around times through improved information sharing, situational awareness, optimised processes, and collaborative decision making.

MarineFields’ Perseus PortCDM platform will connect the various stakeholders involved in sea transport, including vessels, shipping companies, ports, terminals, and hinterland operators.

Innovative services

The aim of the project will be to focus on enhanced standardised data sharing, and enable third party providers to bring new and innovative services to key stakeholders in the maritime industry.

Perseus PortCDM will utilise the Inmarsat satellite network infrastructure, specifically Fleet Xpress, which now has over 10,000 committed vessels, and FleetBroadband, with around 40,000 active terminals on vessels across the world.
