Leading the way for SATCOM partnership

In a contributed article to MilsatMagazine, Peter Hadinger, President of Inmarsat’s U.S Government Business Unit, reflects on the accomplishments in 2016 that have strengthened the partnership between the U.S. government and satellite industry operators.

With Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) models within the Department of Defense (DoD) significantly hindering the ability to provide robust connectivity to servicemen and women due to delays and cost overruns, senior government leaders recognise the need to rely upon commercial satellite communications (COMSATCOM) for an integrated approach.

In his article, Peter Hadinger illustrates how the future of DoD SATCOM modernisation depends on cohesive industry partnership. He outlines the necessity of this partnership and how it enables the government to augment its capabilities, while ensuring resiliency in space.

Additionally, he discusses newer business models such as SATCOM as a Service that are ideally suited for the type of business models the government is exploring to add greater efficiencies and responsiveness to the DoD requirements.
