Inmarsat ushers in new era of satcom with live demonstrations at SIA’s DoD Commercial Satcom Workshop

Peter Hadinger, President, U.S. Government Business Unit to Speak on COMSATCOM policies and the ability to support the warfighter

At the Satellite Industry Association’s (SIA) 11th Annual DoD Commercial Satcom Workshop in Arlington, Virginia (Crystal Gateway Marriott), Inmarsat will provide attendees with live, interactive demonstrations of Global Xpress, the first commercial Ka-band network from a single operator to span the world as well as its new line of innovative L-band services that support the U.S. government’s ongoing mobile communication requirements.

“A new era for satcom” is what Inmarsat will showcase through its live demonstrations and user applications taking place December 17-18 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott. A hands-on showcase will allow attendees to interact with live set-up and satellite acquisition through Global Xpress terminals. “Traditional VSAT can be laborious and time-consuming to set up, but Global Xpress has been designed with the Department of Defense (DoD) user in mind, which means users will see the same ease of use they have come to expect from our BGAN products,” said Kai Tang, Vice President, Market Development, Inmarsat U.S. Government Business Unit.

In addition, attendees will experience Inmarsat’s new line of innovative L-band services that meet the end users’ requirement for highly reliable, secure and affordable satellite communications anywhere, such as BGAN HDR, LACE, IsatHub and IsatPhone.

Furthermore, Peter Hadinger, Inmarsat U.S. Government Business Unit’s President, will be taking part in the “Combined Senior Leadership” panel, from 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. on Friday, December 18. The panel brings together senior government and satellite industry leaders who will share their views on evolving COMSATCOM policies. In particular, on how these policies affect the United States’ ability to provide maximum COMSATCOM capabilities to the servicemen and women. Moderated by VADM Lyle Bien (Ret.), panellists in addition to Hadinger include Rep. Jim Bridenstine (OK-1); Douglas Loverro, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy; Ken Peterman, Senior Vice President, Government Systems, ViaSat; and Jeff Trauberman, Vice President, Space Intelligence and Missile Defense, The Boeing Company. The discussion will focus on how these capabilities must be established in a highly efficient and economical manner through improved government and industry partnerships.
