Volvo Ocean Race – Made possible by Inmarsat

29 June 2015: Throughout the nine-month, 38,739-nautical mile offshore marathon, one thing was always a constant for the seven boats competing in the Volvo Ocean Race – Inmarsat’s global, reliable satellite connectivity.

As official Satellite Communications Race Partner for a fourth consecutive edition, crews have been able to rely on Inmarsat C for safety services and our flagship maritime FleetBroadband service for race logistics, weather updates, and to stay in touch with loved ones and family while out at sea.

Each of the boats’ Onboard Reporters has also been able to send back more content than ever before, including daily blogs, photos and videos, to share ’life at the extreme’ with a global audience of millions, no matter where in the world’s oceans they were.

As the 2014-15 race concludes, watch our video to see why Inmarsat’s connectivity has been so important to the crew, and hear from the skippers, including race champion Ian Walker, Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing.
