Inmarsat honoured with satellite industry award

Inmarsat is pleased to announce that it has been named as a winner at the first annual Better Satellite World Awards, organised by the Society of Satellite Professionals International (SSPI).

Inmarsat is one of only four organisations to receive an award in celebration of the enormous contributions of satellite technology to human welfare, the economy, safety and security, and the extension of knowledge.

The award recognises Inmarsat’s role in providing satellite communications across land, at sea and in the air – from its inception by the International Maritime Organization to provide safety communications at sea in 1979, to delivering critical aviation data, powering mobile journalism, enabling NGO and humanitarian aid in times of a disaster and much more today.

Industry accolade

“We are honoured to receive such a prestigious industry accolade from SSPI,” said Ruy Pinto, Inmarsat COO.

“Today Inmarsat is connecting everyone, everything, everywhere and we remain committed in our efforts to drive innovation and the next generation of satellite technology, now and in the future.

“Our connectivity not only helps businesses and economies to thrive, it also provides safety communications, a vital lifeline in times of disaster and enables stories to be shared around the world.”

Promoting growth

SSPI is an organisation that promotes the growth of the satellite industry, connecting professionals and companies to strengthen and expand the market.

The awards form part of a wider Better Satellite World campaign to highlight the value of satellite to the next generation, to future customers and to the policymakers who make the rules for the satellite business.
