Inmarsat to showcase Global Xpress ‘SATCOM as a Service’ for global mobile aero users at MILCOM 2016

Industry’s only globally available ‘SATCOM as a Service’ capability delivers mobile high-throughput wideband connectivity built specifically for government users

31 October 2016 – Inmarsat (LSE:ISAT.L) today announced that it is participating at the MILCOM 2016 conference, November 1-3, where it will announce that Global Xpress ‘SATCOM as a Service’ is globally available to U.S. government aero users via its lead manufacturer partner, Honeywell’s JetWave™ satellite communication system. This Inmarsat type-approved solution delivers consistent high-throughput connectivity for government users while enroute or on station.

Available through multiple government aviation value-added reseller partners, the award-winning Inmarsat-5 satellites have been in service on government aircraft for more than two years. The ‘SATCOM as a Service’ capability now allows mobile users to access Global Xpress’ seamless and reliable connectivity delivered as a managed service that spans the world.

“As the U.S. government seeks to adopt an enterprise-level, integrated architecture to fulfill their requirements and enhance flexibility of operations worldwide, government users are taking advantage of our Global Xpress SATCOM as a Service, as well as accessing our wideband Mil-Ka leased capacity as part of their own independent network,” said Peter Hadinger, President U.S. Government Business Unit, Inmarsat. ”We are pleased with government interest and demand, driven by Global Xpress’ unique global mobility and reliability, seamless interoperability with military satellite resources and cost-effectiveness. We are committed to grow the market together with Honeywell and other partners, and we are excited to present Honeywell’s JetWave system as the first Inmarsat type-approved airborne terminal compatible with the Global Xpress SATCOM as a Service.”

Government users can operate in the most geographically challenging environments and the Global Xpress ‘always on’ network allows them to get the connectivity they need. With guaranteed service level agreements and committed information rates throughout the world, the quality of the acquired service is assured.
