What is Inmarsat Roaming?

Reliable satellite coverage for Mobile Network Operators

Inmarsat Roaming provides a straightforward and efficient way for Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to offer their customers global mobile connectivity. Thanks to Inmarsat’s global satellite network, with over 99.9% availability, your customers can use their existing mobile number for dependable voice communications even when working or travelling in remote places.

You’ll be able to extend your offering to serve regions that were previously without GSM coverage, providing your customers with the means to stay safe and productive. Offering this service will give your network a unique point of difference – crucial in today’s challenging telecoms market.

Accessing the Inmarsat Roaming service

Your customers can access Inmarsat Roaming through one of our handheld satellite phones – IsatPhone Pro or IsatPhone 2. When bundled together with an MNO SIM card, our services work together to become a compelling proposition for your customers to use as they will continue to use their own mobile number while making use of the Inmarsat global satellite network.

IsatPhone Pro and IsatPhone 2

Both IsatPhone Pro and IsatPhone 2 are enabled for Inmarsat Roaming, so you can offer your customers options that fit their needs:

Inmarsat Roaming partnership

Inmarsat’s 3G network is available for roaming to Mobile Network Operators who are GSMA members and operate their own Roaming service through their MCC-MNC and TADIG codes. Postpaid as well as Camel-based prepaid service is supported so as an MNO you can offer the Inmarsat Roaming service to any customer.

How to become an Inmarsat Roaming partner

Inmarsat supports the GSMA model for international roaming and makes use of the GSMA standardized procedures for roaming connectivity, billing and fraud prevention. You can enter into an International Roaming Agreement (AA.12) with Inmarsat once commercials have been agreed upon.

In addition to the International Roaming Agreement you will also be required to sign a Terminal Distribution Agreement with Inmarsat to be enabled to sell the IsatPhone Pro and IsatPhone 2 devices that are required for use of the Inmarsat Roaming service.

As a MNO you will develop your own proposition for Inmarsat Roaming towards your customers. Inmarsat marketing support is available and training of the MNO customer support and technical team is part of the onboarding process to support your success.
