TSF presents Inmarsat with special recognition award

Télécoms Sans Frontières (TSF), the world-leading Inmarsat-sponsored emergency telecommunications organisation, has recognised Inmarsat for its continued support.

Inmarsat was announced as this year’s winner in the Corporate Social Responsibility Special Recognition category at the 2013 Global Carrier Awards held on 19 November in Amsterdam. The event brings together leading industry figures from the wholesale telecoms sector.

The award was presented by TSF President, Jean-François Cazenave, to Nils Compier, Director, Carriers and Operations, Inmarsat.

Crucial support

“Without the continued support of our key partner, Inmarsat, TSF would not be able to offer such crucial international support and continue to save lives. It was my pleasure to hand out the award to Inmarsat,” said Jean-François Cazenave.

“Thanks to Inmarsat’s support, TSF was able to be one of the first NGOs on the ground when Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines almost two weeks ago using Inmarsat equipment to provide support to the United Nations assessment teams and the thousands of people affected by the disaster,” he added.

Inmarsat’s BGAN service has enabled critical medical support to be provided in Tacloban, which was largely destroyed.

In addition, Inmarsat’s IsatPhone Pro satellite phones have kept vital communication channels open for the Philippines’ government and allowed families to get in touch with their loved ones all over the world from TSF call centres across the region.
