Global Xpress nominated for prestigious aviation award

Inmarsat is honoured to be nominated for a prestigious Aviation Week 2016 Laureate Award.

Inmarsat, together with partner Honeywell Aersopace, have been selected as a finalist in the space category for achieving key 2015 milestones for Global Xpress (GX) Aviation, Inmarsat’s high-speed Ka-band satellite
communications network, set to revolutionise inflight connectivity.

The renowned industry awards, now in their 59th year, acknowledge the accomplishments of individuals and companies in aerospace, aviation and defence.

Successful testing

Milestones include the global Commercial Service Introduction (CSI) of the GX constellation, and the first successful Honeywell flight tests of broadband services, such as streaming video, live radio, conference calls and downloading files.

Winners will be announced at a black tie ceremony at the National Building Museum in Washington DC, USA, on 3 March, marking one of the industry’s premier events.

Additional categories include Civil Aviation, Business Aviation, Innovation, Defence and Technology. The Aviation Week Heroism Award and The Philip J. Klass Award for Lifetime Achievement will also be presented at the ceremony.
