Miranda Mills, President of Inmarsat Aviation, discussed the exciting future of in-flight connectivity at the Inmarsat Americas regional workshop on 12-13 February.
More than 60 Inmarsat partners and representatives from key regional airlines gathered at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA, to learn more about Inmarsat Aviation’s plans moving forwards and the capabilities that the introduction of GX Aviation services would bring.
“By 2015 we will all be able to connect in the cabin to the internet in the same high-speed way that we do on the ground today,” explained Miranda Mills.
“Inmarsat is best placed to deliver this due to our heritage as a safety services provider around the world. Airlines and business aviation customers also know our service and know that it works because it is consistent wherever they go.”
Delegates also had an opportunity to hear about new SwiftBroadband services and solutions on the horizon as well as listen to presentations from key Inmarsat representatives, including Leo Mondale, Inmarsat Managing Director, Growth Management and Support.
In addition, guest speaker J. David Grizzle, former Chief Operating Officer of the FAA Traffic Organisation, discussed the Challenge of new product development in an era of fiscal uncertainty.
An interactive presentation and forum on Flight Deck Communications wrapped up the workshop.
Attendees heard from a panel of leading satcom industry peers including Cobham, Honeywell, ISA, UA, ARINC, Thales, SITA and Rockwell Collins.
