11 September 2017 - 15 September 2017
London International Shipping Week has become a must-attend maritime event since it was launched in 2013. As diamond sponsor from the start, Inmarsat recognises LISW’s importance in showcasing all that UK businesses have to offer the global market.
Inmarsat will host three highly topical debates at our City Road HQ on London’s iconic Silicon roundabout as part of LISW17:
The Future of Maritime Safety – the Next Generation of GMDSS
12 September – 8:30-10:40
A breakfast briefing for organisations involved in maritime safety, featuring a keynote presentation by Katy Ware, Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the International Maritime Organization and Director of Maritime Safety and Standards for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
Delegates will also learn about Inmarsat’s new safety services, part of our ongoing commitment to saving lives at sea.
Digital Disruption – What Really Happens Next in Shipping?
12 September – 14:00-20:00
How will digitalisation impact on shipping and the supply chain over the next 10 years? Cut through the hype with the help of keynote speaker acclaimed futurist Gerd Leonhard, and an expert panel who will debate this hottest of topics.
Dispelling the Myth – the Reality of Cybersecurity in the Shipping Industry
13 September – 13:00-18:30
With an estimated 30,000 vessels now having always-on connectivity to the internet, the cyber threat is as real at sea as it is on land. In this session, blue futurologist Kate Adamson will look at what is in store for an unprotected maritime industry, and information security expert Professor Paul Dorey will speak on his new cyber risk insight paper.
Best practice advice will be on offer from the UK National Cyber Security Centre, part of GCHQ, and Inmarsat will reveal what it is doing to help keep maritime customers safe from attack.
This event includes an evening drinks reception.
