Inmarsat is pleased to be back at the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva, Switzerland again this year, where we will be showcasing our gold standard inflight connectivity solutions and exciting future innovations.
The popular trade event, which takes place on 23-25 May, brings together the European business aviation community for a dedicated exhibition at Palexpo and a static display of over 50 aircraft at Geneva International Airport.
You can visit us our exhibition booth (Exhibit Hall 4-6 — i82) for the latest information about our Jet ConneX (JX), SwiftJet and SwiftBroadband (SBB) inflight connectivity solutions for the business aviation industry.
Jet ConneX is the business aviation industry’s most popular and widely-adopted premium, high-speed solution, powered by our global constellation of Ka-band satellites.
It entered commercial service in November 2016 and has been activated on more than 1,350 business jets, offering the same level of reliable, consistent and high-speed broadband that was previously only available on the ground. It has achieved record usage since the pandemic, testament to the fast-growing expectations of passengers when it comes to staying connected and enjoying a digital onboard experience that supports video streaming, live TV, business activities and more.
As part of our constant innovation, we released our JX Evolution programme last year, to provide customers with greater performance and value for money. This meant that existing service plans were upgraded, delivering increased upload rates at no additional cost, and a new series of high-end service plans are also being rolled out. Ask our team for details.
We’ll be ready to share details about our SwiftJet L-band business aviation connectivity solution, which enters commercial service this year and will deliver speeds up to six times faster than our existing L-band business aviation solution. In fact, it’s the fastest business aviation inflight connectivity service over L-band yet, which means it will unlock possibilities that were previously challenging over the spectrum.
Our team will also highlight how our services are being enhanced with our fully-funded technology roadmap. This includes our first dual payload I-6 F1 and I-6 F2 satellites, which have both been launched and are the most sophisticated commercial communications satellites ever built. They will boost capacity for our ELERA and Global Xpress (GX) networks. We will build on this momentum by adding five more advanced spacecraft to our fleet by 2025.
GX 7, 8 and 9 each power around twice the total capacity of the entire current GX network and can simultaneously create thousands of independent beams of different sizes, bandwidth and power to direct capacity exactly where it’s needed in real-time. The GX10A and 10B HEO satellites offer commercial mobile broadband service for business jets flying in higher elevations and across the Arctic.
The addition of these satellite will be supplemented by three next-generation terminals developed with our partners Satcom Direct, Orbit and Honeywell, which are compatible with a range of business jets.
Last but by no means least, we will outline the details of our multi-dimensional ORCHESTRA network, which will bring together our existing geosynchronous (GEO) satellites with low earth orbit satellites (LEO) and terrestrial 5G. It will form an integrated, high-performance ‘communications network of the future’, unmatched by any existing or planned competitor offering.
ORCHESTRA boosts capacity in high-density areas such as at airports, eliminating congested network ‘hot spots’ and ensuring the connectivity needs of business aviation customers continue to be met well into the future, with capacity scaled directly to match their requirements.
We hope to see you at EBACE 2023 to hear about all of our innovations in business aviation connectivity.
