How do I set up RSS?
You need a piece of software, called a newsreader. It automatically checks the web feeds you've subscribed to and notifies you when updates or changes have been made.
There are several different types of newsreader, including:
- Browser-based - e.g. Microsoft's Internet Explorer
- Web-based - e.g. as provided by the Hotmail service
- Stand-alone program - accessed using a separate, downloadable program.
Stand-alone programs have the advantage of enabling you to keep news feeds on your computer, in the same way that you download email using Microsoft Outlook.

There are various newsreaders designed to work on different operating systems, so you will need to choose one that works with your smartphone, tablet or computer.
