Inmarsat at a glance
We own and operate a fleet of 10 satellites, enabling individuals and organisations to stay connected across the globe. Customers include merchant shipping, governments, airlines, media, the oil and gas industry, mining and construction, and aid agencies.
What we do
We power global connectivity. Our satellites and services make it possible to communicate anywhere – even in the most remote and inhospitable places on Earth. We can connect you to the international telephone network, the internet or a corporate data network when you want, wherever you want.
Where we are
Headquartered in London, Inmarsat has offices in more than 40 locations worldwide, including regional offices, operations centres, sales offices, installation and maintenance centres, and satellite ground stations. We employ about 1,500 staff and have a presence in ports and centres of commerce on every continent.
In 1982 we unveiled the world’s first global mobile satellite system to enable ships to stay in constant touch. Three decades later we continue to innovate, launching the world’s first global 3G network in 2009 and – from 2014 – our new Global Xpress network delivering download speeds of up to 50Mbps.
Our goal is to remain the leading mobile satellite services operator – through a combination of extensive portfolio, global coverage and technological innovation. We aim to deliver the highest standards of reliability in the market, while offering excellent value for money.
Our values make us who we are and determine how we interact with our customers and the world. At Inmarsat they’re woven into the fabric of the company through the people who work for us. It’s their way of seeing things – their core values – that make our business tick.
