• Q01 How is an incoming call declined before it is answered on the IsatPhone Pro?

  When there is a incoming call and the phone is ringing you can press the red button to decline it. The details of the calling party will now be stored in the call register, under missed calls.

• Q02 Which DPs are supporting the SB 200 service?

  Currently three Distribution Partners will provide SB 200 services: Satcom Direct Stratos Vizada.

• Q03 Is the SB 200 service available on a full global footprint?

  The SB 200 service is available on each of the three I4 satellite regions although services are not available below the 20 degree elevation angle.

• Q04 Why is the IsatPhone Pro battery not charging?

  When a battery is dead the display will show a black screen, it can take 5-7 minutes to appear to start charging. This is because it needs some charge to light the back screen and show the battery icon charging

• Q05 Is simultaneous use of CS / ISDN connection and SB X-Stream possible?

  The user is not able to access any other Packet Switched Services from the same terminal while running SB X-Stream. The stated throughput performance figures are based on one channel per aircraft. AMBE+2 Circuit Switched Voice can be used but may impact X-Stream data rates.

• Q06 Are there specific requirements for an End Customer to use FB Multi-voice?

  An End customer will need to: Purchase a FB UT that supports Multi-Voice. Upgrade their existing FB UT by obtaining the firmware from the specific FB manufacturer. Connect an external FB Multi-Voice PBX to their FB UT.

• Q07 Who manufactures the FB500?

  There are three FB 500 terminals available: the Sailor 500 from Thrane & Thrane, the JUE-500 from JRC, and the Felcom 500 from Furuno

• Q08 How is the redial feature used on the IsatPhone Pro?

  If you press the green button you can see a list of the previous numbers which you have dialled. Cycle through the numbers with the cursor keys, and when you reach the one you want to call press the green button again to call it.

• Q09 Error Code CMS_8

  The text messaging service does not work. Contact distribution partner (DP) for assistance.

• Q10 Is there a WAP browser for the IsatPhone Pro Data service?

  There is no web browser on the handset interface.

• Q11 Error Code CMS_198

  The chosen validity period for the text message is not supported by the Network. Choose a different period for the validity of the text message and try again. If the text message cannot be delivered during the selected validity period, it will be deleted automatically.

• Q12 Error Code CMS_1

  The recipient's number does not exist. Check the number and try again.

• Q13 How long are SMS messages kept in the system if undelivered to Inmarsat numbers?

  SMS messages are kept in the system for a maximum of 7 days.

• Q14 Where is SB X-Stream accessible in terms of coverage?

  This is available throughout the I4 footprint. It is a Class 6 (i.e. dual channel High Gain Antenna) and as such available across the same elevations.

• Q15 How is an outgoing call made on the IsatPhone Pro?

  To make a call enter the full international number by dialling +,then the country code, area code (without the leading 0), telephone number and then press the green key, eg. +44 1621 123456.

• Q16 What is the SB 200 service?

  SB 200 is to Support Single 200kHz Channel. Packet Switched Services: Background IP (Contended Service) up to 200kbps 2 PDP Contexts (maximum) both can be Primary Streaming IP limited to 16kbps. Streams (2 x 8 kbps or 1 x 16kbps) Circuit Switched Functions: Single AMBE Voice Channel Services operating Above 20 degree elevation.

• Q17 Why are the SB X-Stream rates slower than those for BGAN X-Stream?

  Different fading characteristics due to the operating environments adversely impact the link budgets and therefore drop the available data rates.

• Q18 How is an ongoing call terminated on the IsatPhone Pro?

  Press the red button to end/terminate a call.

• Q19 How can Contacts be synchronised using the IsatPhone Pro?

  The USB drivers must be installed before the synchronisation tool is run

• Q20 Do any amendments (i.e. adding SB X-Stream) affect the length of a contract?

  As adding SB X-Stream does not constitute a change of package, there should be no change to an existing contract.
