Coverage

The map below depicts coverage following completion of the satellite repositioning process.

In the Atlantic Ocean Region-West (AOR-W), Classic services were delivered via the I-4 satellite. Now  the I-4 satellite over the Americas is activated, Classic services traffic in AOR-W has been transferred back to an I-3 satellite.

As a result, there is reduced spot beam coverage in AOR-W, but Inmarsat will make best commercial efforts to increase the I-3 spot beam coverage so that it exceeds the original I-3 coverage.

There is reduced spot beam coverage for the following services:

Aero I - voice, fax, 4.8kbps data

Aero Mini M - voice, fax, 2.4kbps data

However, after the repositioning of the I-4 satellites is complete, Inmarsat currently plans to make our Aero H+ (voice and data) and Aero I (data) available over the repositioned I-4 constellation.

The provision of these services over the combined I-4 and I-3 constellations will result, from mid-2009, in the creation of seven satellite regions providing Aero safety services around the world.

This will enable access to SwiftBroadband and Aero safety services via one antenna per aircraft.

This map depicts Inmarsat's expectations of coverage but does not represent a guarantee of service. The availability of service at the edge of coverage areas fluctuates depending on various conditions. Swift 64 and classic aeronautical coverage March 2009.
