Calling with Inmarsat
One number, anywhere
Calling to or from an Inmarsat terminal is like making an international telephone call. Inmarsat even has its own national dialling code: +870.
This section gives you further guidance on how to make a call, or send an email, fax or telex.
Making calls
The Inmarsat satellites act like a giant telephone switchboard in the sky. They make it possible to use most modern forms of telecommunication, including phone, fax, email, telex or SMS text message - no matter where you are in the world.
And, increasingly, that includes connecting computers to the internet and corporate networks via our latest generation broadband satellite services.

Contacting users
To call an Inmarsat user on land or at sea just follow a few basic steps.
It's also easy to send them email, a fax, SMS text or telex message.
The procedure varies slightly depending on whether they are on land or at sea, the Inmarsat service they are using and the way you want to make contact - for example, by phone or email.

+870 to replace ocean region codes
The four original Inmarsat ocean region dialling codes (+871, +872, +873 and +874) were withdrawn from service from midnight, 23:59 hours GMT, on 31 December, 2008.
This brings all of our services into line with our advanced voice and high-speed data offerings, such as BGAN, FleetBroadband and SwiftBroadband.
With immediate effect you can now dial the +870 Inmarsat country code to contact any Inmarsat customer anywhere in the world.
