Inmarsat's IsatPhone service can be used within Asia, Africa and the Middle East, using Inmarsat's latest generation Inmarsat-4 (I-4) satellite over the Indian Ocean Region.*
Following the successful launch of the third I-4 satellite on 18 August 2008, Inmarsat will be repositioning its I-4 satellites in order to optimise the network.
Once this repositioning process is complete - currently planned for the end of February 2009 - IsatPhone coverage will essentially be the same as it is today, but will be provided via two satellites instead of one.
The maps below show the coverage as it changes throughout the I-4 satellite repositioning process and the corresponding dates.
